“Changing Attitudes, Changing Lives”
This week in October marks Mental Illness Awareness week. Congress in 1990 established this week to recognize the efforts of The National Alliance on Mental Illnesses (NAMI) in raising the national consciousness on these issues. Events are being held throughout the United States and Canada to increase awareness of the effects of mental illness in our society, and to help lessen the stigma associated with psychological and psychiatric problems. NAMI has held walks throughout the United States including Los Angeles, which took place last Saturday. NAMI also offers a MIAW book with activity suggestions and promotional materials. Tuesday, October 4 is designated as a national day of prayer for mental illness recovery.
PCH Treatment Center is a proud sponsor of the Los Angeles NAMI walk for Mental Illness Awareness week.
