Amanda Moore, DO
Director of Psychiatry
Dr. Moore completed her undergraduate training at The University of California Los Angeles and attended medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa. After medical school she returned to her home state of California to complete her residency in Psychiatry at The University of California San Diego. Dr. Moore is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has spent the past 6 years working with a high acuity population by practicing at several psychiatric urgent cares throughout Los Angeles. Through this practice Dr. Moore has been exposed to and managed a wide array of psychopathology and is comfortable treating the full spectrum of psychiatric illnesses. She led a full service partnership treatment team and was responsible for managing patients who have serious chronic psychiatric illness. She has also supervised the training of numerous nurse practitioner students.
During Dr. Moore’s residency she was part of the treatment team at the University of San Diego’s OCD clinic for two years, and OCD has continued to be an area of interest for Dr. Moore. She also has experience managing psychiatric illness in the setting of chronic medical illness. In residency she managed the psychiatric needs of clients at the The Owens Clinic in San Diego which specialized in clients with HIV and AIDS.
Dr. Moore is a firm believer in the powerful connection between mind and body and has an interest in how psychiatric illness can manifest as physical distress. She also has special interests in treating acute anxiety disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Eating Disorders and Psychotic Disorders.
