Rabbi Dr. Arielle Hanien, PsyD, SEP brings expertise in integrative somatic approaches to resolving trauma and enhancing resilience. Interweaving the fields of interpersonal neuroscience, psychology, conflict resolution, and the belief and practice of spiritual traditions, she supports clients in attuning to their felt sense experience and to discerning and drawing upon resources in their embodied being and in the subtle body (energy) of the collective.
The only rabbi worldwide certified in both Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Integrated Somatic Psychology, Rabbi Dr. Hanien is Associate Clinical Director of the Lifespan Psychological Center and Chair of the Clergy Education Committee of the International Trauma-Healing Institute. Until the Woolsey Fire in 2018, she served as Spiritual Counselor and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner at ReConnect Integrative Trauma Treatment Center’s Residential facility in Malibu, CA. She leads groups addressing spiritual dimensions of trauma and healing at Trauma and Beyond Psychological Center and consults on trauma and healing for initiatives in the fields of chaplaincy, education, and interfaith dialogue.
Rabbi Dr. Hanien earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Ryokan College in 2018 and is a doctoral fellow in the executive doctoral program in Jewish Education at the Davidson Graduate School of the Jewish Theological Seminary. Ordained by the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies with honors in Talmud in 2006, she also holds degrees in Philosophy, Sociology, and Physical Sciences from Brandeis University.
Rabbi Dr. Hanien provides consultations in Somatic Experiencing to students, practitioners, and fellow clinicians. She sees individuals and couples in her private practice in Somatic Experiencing and Spiritual Counseling located in West LA and in Beverly Hills.
