James Sobotowicz MT-BC, is a board certified Music Therapist. He has worked in the psychiatric field, using music as a form of healing. For over 20 years, he has used his diverse and unique therapy at many facilities and hospitals in Southern California.
James uses drum circles, song creating, and analysis and meditation as part of the music activities that he shares with a wide variety of patients. He incorporates music in a therapeutic setting and a structured environment. He has worked with autistic children, at-risk youth, adults, and the geriatric population.
With music being associated as “the universal language”, James has developed an interactive and unique approach to reaching people with a variety of disorders, addictions, and problems.
James is a trained percussionist who also plays piano and sings. He has performed in a wide array of styles, from orchestral to jazz. He also enjoys playing a variety of music, including blues, pop, and Latin.
James attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, he studied music arranging and composition, along with jazz performance. He received a B.A. in Music Therapy from Cal-State Northridge.
