Dr. Jennifer Montesi is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of OCD and other anxiety-based disorders including social anxiety disorder. Dr. Montesi completed her doctoral work at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She received extensive training in the treatment of OCD using Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP) under the mentorship of Dr. Jonathan Grayson at the Anxiety and OCD Treatment Center of Philadelphia. At Temple University, Dr. Montesi was also mentored by Dr. Richard Heimberg in the Adult Anxiety Clinic of Temple. She received specialized training and supervision in the treatment of social anxiety disorder using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Dr. Montesi completed her internship and postdoctoral training at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, where she provided treatment across a variety of residential, inpatient, and outpatient settings to individuals presenting with anxiety disorders and OCD, addiction, trauma, severe and persistent mental illness, and a diverse range of Axis I and II diagnoses. Dr. Montesi has received training in various therapeutic modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness. Throughout her training, Dr. Montesi has been passionate about working with couples and families. She has conducted research both on Behavioral Couples Therapy for veterans and their partners and on the interface between social anxiety and couple distress. She was trained to provide structural family therapy by Dr. Douglas Rait at the VA Palo Alto and currently sees couples and families in her private practice. In private practice, Dr. Montesi also works with a wide range of presenting problems including anxiety disorders and OCD, depression and mood disorders, addiction, and trauma.
