Karen Ann (Aliza) Barzilay is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#LCSW13153) with over 30 years of experience working in the field of Mental Health and also has a nursing background. She received her BA from the University of Colorado and her MSW from SDSU. She has experience with a variety of client populations at all levels of care, including inpatient, outpatient and community-based. Her orientation is psychodynamic but she is also trained in CBT, DBT and motivational interviewing. Her background includes holding the position of Outpatient Supervisor at Cedar Sinai’s Department of Psychiatry (Thalians) for the Adult, Family and Child, ADHD, Geropsych and Chemical Dependency clinics where she also supervised their Advanced Clinical Fellowship Program. Most recently, as the Project Supervisor/Lead Clinician for an Integrated Health and Wellness Project, she worked with high risk clients and their families in addressing mental health, substance abuse and physical health concerns in an effort to reduce hospitalizations. Furthermore, she has been involved in policy work as a prior appointee on the Governors’ Olmstead Committee on de-institutionalization, LA Care Advisory Committee on disability, and member of the State of California’s Long Term Care Mental Health Task Force.
