Kim Selbert, LMFT received her Master’s Degree in Counseling
Psychology from Lindenwood University in 1981. After a ten year private
practice, specializing in childbirth and in parenting, she decided to go into a
different direction with her career. Her interest in childbirth led her to write a
book on childbirth, Childbirth Choices In Mothers’ Words that was published
Kim decided to pursue another area that she was interested in and
entered USC in 1999, receiving her Master’s Degree in Occupational
Therapy and Occupational Science in 2001. She worked in this field for ten
years with young children as well as with adults in a variety of settings.
Then in 2006, Kim discovered Laughter Yoga and was trained as a
Laughter Yoga Leader by Dr. Madan Kataria and Sebastian Gendry. She
created a weekly laughter club in Santa Monica where adults could come and
learn how to cultivate their inner laughter through a variety of exercises that
she facilitated with and also without music.
Kim developed her own business utilizing the concepts of Laughter
Yoga combined with drumming, music and singing. These programs were
brought into assisted living and memory care facilities and she also facilitated
workshops and programs for local public libraries.
More recently, Kim returned to the field of Marriage and Family
Therapy and reactivated her MFT license in early 2021. She is currently
seeing individual clients through an online platform called, BetterHelp.com.
Kim is a group therapist with PCH and leads the Grief, Loss and Forgiveness
