Sarah Eggers is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and registered art therapist. Sarah has extensive experience creating and facilitating art therapy-based groups in a variety of settings, including a group for survivors of domestic violence in Guanajuato, Mexico, bilingual groups for adolescent girls and their mothers, and groups for people diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses, among many others. Additionally, Sarah is trained in Nonviolent Communication and co-facilitates NVC workshops in the community and in forensic settings through the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP). Before entering the field of mental health, Sarah, who holds an MFA in creative writing, taught creative writing and literature to undergraduates at Hunter College in New York City. Sarah has conducted art and writing workshops and courses in multiple settings, including most recently at the Ebell of Los Angeles Women’s Club and the Los Angeles Writers Group. Sarah provides advocacy and belongs to organizations working on issues from immigrant rights to racial justice. She currently has a private practice located in Pasadena, CA where she specializes in the treatment of trauma, eating disorders, and grief and loss using talk therapy, art and writing therapy, mindfulness and EMDR.
