At PCH, we prefer to put names and faces to the philosophy guiding our approach whenever possible. To better accomplish that, we will begin sharing the firsthand perspectives of the people behind our treatment programs with monthly staff interviews.

1. What’s your favorite mental health or well being quote?
‘Thoughts are just that, thoughts’
2. How have you coped with Covid in the last few years?
Early on I made a point of encouraging my friends and family to engage with my digitally through video calls and online hangouts so that I would not lose my sense of community or feel isolated from my friends despite having to quarantine.
3. Top three book recommendations and why?
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck – an amazing self help book that draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles in an incredibly straightforward and accessible way without bogging you down with clinical language.
The Dark Tower (series) – the single greatest dark fantasy series I’ve ever read from the brilliant mind of Stephen King. Incredible characters, unique themes and setting, as well as an astounding audio book rendition.
We Are Legion (Bobiverse series) – a great Sci Fi series that explores a philosophical debate that has always interested me: what would happen if we made a copie of our mind onto a computer? Incredibly well thought out series with many twists.
4. What’s your favorite modality of treatment and why?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Despite having little to no time learning this modality in school, I have learned about ACT for the past 2 years and have grown to love its practicality and widespread applicability. I personally have used its skills to work on my own intrusive thoughts around driving that arose following a car accident a few years ago to great effect. I believe ACT’s principles can benefit anyone.
