This in-person lunch and learn training is designed for mental health professionals—including therapists, psychologists, social workers, and advanced students—who are looking to deepen their understanding of family involvement in individual treatment. Participants will first explore the clinical benefits and potential challenges of involving family members in a client’s therapeutic process. Through a systemic lens, the training will provide practical strategies for engaging families effectively, including techniques for identifying and addressing mentalizing blocks that often impede communication. Emphasis will be placed on building epistemic trust with both clients and their families to enhance openness and facilitate lasting therapeutic change. Additionally, the training will help clinicians guide clients and families in recognizing patterns of relationship distress within the family system and equip them with evidence-based tools to manage and resolve these challenges. This integrative approach empowers practitioners to enhance treatment outcomes by fostering more supportive and resilient relational dynamics.
