We understand that an individual's path to healing and a meaningful life is distinct, shaped by their unique experiences and how these have impacted their nervous system. Our interventions reflect this diversity, offering a wide range of approaches to meet the specific needs of each person we care for. The approaches used at PCH to support therapeutic change are holistic and inclusive and target the mind, body, and heart, with the objectives to educate, equip, and empower our clients.

Our detoxification and stabilization program offers a calm, supportive space where individuals can begin to reset with attentive medical care and steady therapeutic presence. We understand that this phase can feel vulnerable and uncertain. That is why we focus first on comfort, dignity, and safety. Medical support is available around the clock, and each person is guided at a pace that respects their unique experience.
Detox at PCH is not something to push through or endure. It is the beginning of a relationship. Alongside medical supervision, residents are gently introduced to therapeutic connection so that the transition into residential care feels thoughtful and supported. The goal is not only physical stabilization, but helping each person feel grounded, clear, and ready for deeper work.
Our medically managed withdrawal program is designed to help clients safely and comfortably begin their recovery journey. Under the care of experienced medical professionals, individuals are closely monitored as their bodies adjust to being free from substances.
We focus on minimizing discomfort and managing withdrawal symptoms with compassionate and attentive care. Our team works to create a calm and supportive environment so clients can stabilize physically while feeling safe, respected, and cared for during this important first step in recovery.
Detox is not only a physical process. It can also bring up powerful emotions and psychological challenges. During this phase, our clinical team provides therapeutic support to help clients navigate what they are experiencing.
Through individual counseling and supportive interventions, clients are given space to process emotions, reduce anxiety, and begin developing healthy coping strategies. Early therapeutic engagement helps lay the foundation for continued healing and long term recovery.
Recovery is strengthened through connection. Even in the earliest stages of treatment, clients are encouraged to begin building supportive relationships with others who understand the recovery process.
Our community centered approach helps reduce feelings of isolation and reminds clients they are not alone. Through peer encouragement and shared experiences, individuals begin to develop a sense of belonging, hope, and motivation as they move forward in their recovery journey.

Healing unfolds in relationship. It grows through shared meals, meaningful conversations, daily structure, and the experience of being seen and understood. Our residential programming takes place in two separate homes, each created to support different areas of focus while holding the same whole person philosophy that defines PCH.
Both homes offer structure without rigidity, clinical depth without coldness, and community without pressure. Residents are welcomed into environments that feel intentional, steady, and genuinely supportive.
Across detoxification and both residential homes, the commitment remains the same. Every person is welcomed as a whole human being with a unique story. Whether someone is taking their very first step toward stabilization or continuing deeper therapeutic work, they are met with dignity, steady support, and a community that believes meaningful and lasting change is possible.
Substance Use and Early Stability Focus
The Recovery House is designed for individuals who are working on their relationship with substances and building stability in early recovery. For some, this home follows detoxification. For others, it is the place where they begin strengthening momentum and creating a more sustainable foundation.
Life inside the Recovery House is purposeful and connected. Each day includes therapeutic engagement, individual sessions, group work, and shared experiences that help residents develop insight and practical tools. We explore the emotional, relational, and environmental factors that influence substance use with curiosity and compassion. Rather than focusing on labels, we focus on understanding patterns, strengthening coping skills, and building internal resilience.
Residents practice navigating structure, communication, boundaries, and accountability within a supportive community. There is space to reflect, to rebuild trust in oneself, and to begin imagining a life that feels steadier and more aligned with personal values. The work here is not only about reducing harmful behaviors. It is about rediscovering confidence, connection, and a sense of direction.
The Recovery House supports growth that extends beyond treatment, helping each person develop rhythms and skills that can carry forward into daily life.
A Warm, Supportive Place for Emotional Well Being
The Wellness House is a residential space created for individuals whose primary focus is emotional health and psychological well being. It is a home for those who may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, mood shifts, trauma responses, stress, or other internal struggles that make everyday life more difficult.
Rooted in the integrative philosophy reflected in our Pasadena programming, this residence honors the whole person rather than organizing care around diagnoses. Healing here is built through connection, consistent therapeutic engagement, and steady daily rhythms that create a sense of safety and predictability.
Residents participate in individual therapy, group work, and skill building experiences that strengthen emotional regulation, communication, and self understanding. The environment balances thoughtful structure with warmth, allowing growth to unfold at a pace that feels sustainable.
At the Wellness House, we look beyond what someone may be struggling with to understand who they are and what brings meaning to their life. The emphasis is on integration. The work done here is meant to translate into real world stability, deeper connection, and greater confidence long after treatment ends.

PCH understands that mental health challenges impact not only the client but also their closest relationships. Research shows positive outcomes increase and gains are
maintained when the client’s relationships are addressed in treatment. It’s easy for family members to become overwhelmed with worry, fear and hopelessness. It can be
hard to know how best to support a loved one. We address this and more through eight modules of interactive learning and relationship support in addition to individualized family therapy sessions.
What makes our program different?
Our program utilizes the latest research and practice in the field of couple and family therapy. We provide practical tools to manage relationship distress, improve communication and build a healthier connection. We help participants to integrate this knowledge through visuals, group process, exercises, role plays, demonstrations, and multi-family groups. Family members get to practice these new skills in real time with the help of our seasoned facilitators who are all licensed and experienced in couple and family work.
PCH believes the huge challenges families undergo, while incredibly painful, can also provide a unique opportunity to engage in the deeper work; to not only repair and
rebuild, but to thrive both individually and together. We are committed to providing an inclusive, safe space where everyone is welcomed and invited into the conversation. We want families to know they are not alone - a community of support is available to
them at PCH.
The Family Program includes:
Conjoint and separate therapy sessions and psycho-education are arranged weekly around the family’s and Client’s schedules.
Therapy sessions for families who live remotely or have logistical issues precluding them from coming to the PCH campus.

This phase of the journey allows clients to gradually reintegrate into their regular lives, whether that involves returning to education, work, or engaging in volunteer activities. It’s about reconnecting with what matters most to them – from family and hobbies to career goals and personal well-being.
As clients prepare to transition out of our program, we collaborate closely to develop a comprehensive discharge plan, integrating effective treatment modalities like dialectical therapy, family therapy, and more. Our aim is to support our clients in returning to a fulfilling life, filled with the joys of family, work, and leisure, while confidently managing the challenges of anxiety or depression. At PCH, we're more than just caregivers; we're partners in your journey to living a valued and rewarding life.

Clients are prepared for re-entry into the workforce with employment preparation training, and they are connected with volunteer opportunities to enhance community engagement. Social skills development is a key component, ensuring clients can build and maintain healthy relationships. For those facing specific challenges such as anxiety, the program offers specialized support techniques. Additionally, traveling and sober companionship services are available for clients needing extra support during critical moments, thereby maintaining and building upon the progress achieved during treatment.
