We understand that an individual's path to healing and a meaningful life is distinct, shaped by their unique experiences and how these have impacted their nervous system. Our interventions reflect this diversity, offering a wide range of approaches to meet the specific needs of each person we care for. The approaches used at PCH to support therapeutic change are holistic and inclusive and target the mind, body, and heart, with the objectives to educate, equip, and empower our clients.

At PCH Treatment Center West Los Angeles, we offer a comprehensive IOP program, available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5:30 pm. OCD and Anxiety Program

PCH Treatment Center stands out with its evidence-based approach to treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), featuring one of the few specialized  programs, with supportive living, in the country. Our dedicated OCD Treatment Program includes Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and OCD-specific group therapies, supported by medication management when appropriate. Our specialized staff of doctoral and master's level therapists are experts in OCD and anxiety-related issues, providing clients with a range of resources and treatments, including psychodynamic therapies, over 80 weekly groups, exposure interventions with OCD trained coaches, and participation in the PCH Family Program.

Recognizing OCD as a serious neuropsychiatric condition, our treatment is highly individualized, addressing each client's specific symptoms and their impact on daily life. Our core OCD program relies on ACT and ERP, the gold standard treatment, supplemented with additional Cognitive Therapies and pharmacological management as needed. We also address co-existing conditions like mood dysregulation, psychological trauma, and personality concerns, which often accompany OCD.

Christopher Mulligan, our clinic director with extensive experience in various developmental and psychological issues, leads a team of experienced therapists and counselors in delivering comprehensive care. Each client benefits from a unique treatment plan and focused curriculum, carefully crafted to meet their individual needs, ensuring a personalized path to wellness.

One to One by PCH is our response to the diverse needs of those seeking an alternative to traditional group-based treatment and those clients needing more flexibility in schedule as well as anonymity in treatment.

The program begins with an initial assessment conducted by the admissions team. This assessment forms the basis for collaboration between the client and key members of the PCH team, including the Executive Director and/or the Executive Clinical Director. Based on this collaborative effort, a customized program schedule is created, which is tailored to directly meet the client's specific needs and goals. The schedule encompasses multiple therapeutic modalities, each provided by specialists in their respective areas. These modalities are offered several times per week, ensuring a comprehensive and continuous therapeutic experience for the client.

The program offers a range of services designed to cater to the unique needs of each client. These services include the option of in-person, virtual, or hybrid program formats, providing flexibility and accessibility. The core of the program is a multidisciplinary, integrated clinical team that focuses on one client at a time, ensuring personalized and comprehensive care. The treatment approaches are holistic and inclusive, specifically tailored to each client's needs. This includes a variety of modalities such as integrative psychiatry, case management, cognitive-based therapies, trauma and resilience-based therapies, neurofeedback, among others. Additionally, the program offers integration with other PCH programs and services as indicated, facilitating a cohesive and seamless therapeutic experience.

This program is ideal for clients seeking:

Family Program

PCH understands that mental health challenges impact not only the client but also their closest relationships. Research shows positive outcomes increase and gains are
maintained when the client’s relationships are addressed in treatment. It’s easy for family members to become overwhelmed with worry, fear and hopelessness. It can be
hard to know how best to support a loved one. We address this and more through eight modules of interactive learning and relationship support in addition to individualized family therapy sessions.

What makes our program different?

Our program utilizes the latest research and practice in the field of couple and family therapy. We provide practical tools to manage relationship distress, improve communication and build a healthier connection. We help participants to integrate this knowledge through visuals, group process, exercises, role plays, demonstrations, and multi-family groups. Family members get to practice these new skills in real time with the help of our seasoned facilitators who are all licensed and experienced in couple and family work.

PCH believes the huge challenges families undergo, while incredibly painful, can also provide a unique opportunity to engage in the deeper work; to not only repair and
rebuild, but to thrive both individually and together.  We are committed to providing an inclusive, safe space where everyone is welcomed and invited into the conversation. We want families to know they are not alone - a community of support is available to
them at PCH.

The Family Program includes:

Ongoing Family Therapy Sessions

Conjoint and separate therapy sessions and psycho-education are arranged weekly around the family’s and Client’s schedules.

Teleconference Family Sessions

Therapy sessions for families who live remotely or have logistical issues precluding them from coming to the PCH campus.

Digital Therapeutics

PCH's Digital Therapeutics program offers personalized mental health care with a focus on integrating cutting-edge technology into our treatment approach. We utilize advanced BrainPaint neurofeedback protocols and the leading evidence-backed brain training platform BrainHQ to support cognitive enhancement and emotional well-being. Additionally, PCH provides the leading FDA-authorized non-pharmacological treatments for attention-based disorders. With a commitment to personalized interventions, we ensure each individual receives comprehensive support tailored to their unique needs.

Transitional Living

In our Transitional Living program at PCH Center, we emphasize a personalized approach to step-down care. Recognizing the unique backgrounds and future aspirations of our clients, this program is crafted for those ready to move forward from our supportive housing, offering them increased autonomy within a structured and nurturing environment.

Embracing Life’s Goals and Values

Our focus is on helping clients identify their personal goals and values, equipping them with the skills to pursue a life aligned with these aspirations. This phase of the journey allows clients to gradually reintegrate into their regular lives, whether that involves returning to education, work, or engaging in volunteer activities. It’s about reconnecting with what matters most to them – from family and hobbies to career goals and personal well-being.

Supportive Transition Back to Daily Life

As clients prepare to transition out of our program, we collaborate closely to develop a comprehensive discharge plan, integrating effective treatment modalities like dialectical therapy, family therapy, and more. Our aim is to support our clients in returning to a fulfilling life, filled with the joys of family, work, and leisure, while confidently managing the challenges of anxiety or depression. At PCH, we're more than just caregivers; we're partners in your journey to living a valued and rewarding life.

After Care

At PCH Treatment Center, we recognize the crucial role of aftercare in the success of any treatment plan. To facilitate the smoothest possible transition from intensive residential or day treatment, we offer comprehensive After Care services, both with and without Transitional Living options.

The After Care program is designed to support clients in adapting to daily life after their treatment. It focuses on essential life skills and coping strategies, ensuring a smooth transition back into everyday routines. Clients receive assistance in financial planning and management, fostering the ability to maintain a stable budget. Time management training is also provided, enabling effective organization of daily and weekly schedules. This holistic approach extends to practical skills like navigating public transportation, enhancing personal organization, and meal planning, encompassing everything from shopping to cooking.

The program also emphasizes personal development and community integration. Clients are prepared for re-entry into the workforce with employment preparation training, and they are connected with volunteer opportunities to enhance community engagement. Social skills development is a key component, ensuring clients can build and maintain healthy relationships. For those facing specific challenges such as anxiety, the program offers specialized support techniques. Additionally, traveling and sober companionship services are available for clients needing extra support during critical moments, thereby maintaining and building upon the progress achieved during treatment.
